Programme Officer (Finance)
The position shall ideally start on 15 May 2023 and is initially for one year with the possibility of extension for at least three years. The successful candidate will report to the Co-Directors and the Academic Coordinator of ICAS:MP, and will work closely together with the Programme Officer (Event & PR). The selected candidate is expected to assume responsibility for the general and all-round support for the running the office of ICAS:MP. Her/ His tasks shall include but not be limited to:
- Will assist the Academic Coordinator in administrative matters
- Responsibility for ICAS:MP finances (booking expenses in finance software, online payment execution on both Indian and European banking systems, making fixed and variable payments (incl. salaries, procurements, etc., making service contracts)
- Preparing financial reports, budget forecasts, and other finance-related documents
- Assisting with logistical problems of the Fellows in India
- Instructs the Office Assistant and Programme Assistant together with the Programme Officer Event & PR
- Establishing workflows and administrative processes in relation to finances in collaboration with the Academic Coordinator
- Ensures regular and systematic communication for financial matters with the concerned colleagues at the Max Weber Stiftung in Bonn and in Delhi
Initial salary of at least Rs 86,000 per month depending on qualifications and experience plus housing and travel allowance. Medical benefits, Annual Bonus and Employee Provident Fund would also apply.
Skills and Experience:
- At least a bachelor degree, preferably in finance, accounting/commerce or business management, from a recognized university or professional body is essential
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, and financial administration is required
- An understanding of Indian accounting systems, TDS compliances, and finance software, i.e., MACH, SAP, TALLY, would be an added advantage
- We expect sound computer skills. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- An excellent command of English and Hindi. German language skills or a willingness to learn German are essential
- An understanding of and experience within the Indian and German academic landscapes, as well as a background in academia are of advantage but no necessary requirement
- The position requires very good communication skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure
- Work experience in a research organization, NGO, or cultural institute is desirable
- Given the international nature of ICAS:MP (international scholars and conferences), experience in dealing with people from a diverse, international background and assisting with logistical problems in India would be of great advantage
