Crossings: An online documentary film festival series; October 2021 – February 2022
Lalit Vachani from our partner institution CeMIS, the Centre for Modern Indian Studies at the University of Göttingen, organised an online documentary film festival titled ‘Crossings’. It showcases the state of the art of the Indian documentary film through a series of significant journeys made by filmmakers using diverse and innovative forms of communication.
It features innovative Indian films on various topics, for instance on the politics of insurgency, the violence of state repression, the refashioning of caste and gender inequalities, religious majoritarianism, and creative resistance. In addition, there will be weekly discussions and panels on the Indian documentary.
The festival will begin next week on 11 October and ends in February.
ICAS:MP is an institutional co-sponsor of this event. We are delighted that our Visual Diaries project on the last Indian election campaigns (initiated by Srirupa Roy and Ravi Vasudevan) will be presented at the Festival in February 2022.
